A PRODUCTION OF THÉÂTRE DE LA VIEILLE 17 IN OTTAWA IN COLLABORATION WITH THE FRENCH THEATRE OF THE NATIONAL ARTS CENTRE

L’HOMME INVISIBLE/THE INVISIBLE MAN was born in Timmins, Ontario. He speaks two languages, French and English. These two voices speak to him with equal force. They often try to say the same thing but remain forever separate. One day, the invisible man finds himself in Québec City. He has no friends, no girlfriend, no job, so nothing distracts him from his internal malaise. To be invisible is every child’s dream. It is a door open on absolute freedom. But the invisible man has only one wish: to be visible. This, he will not be able to achieve.

“This production is a little gem of theatrical poetry. You must see The Invisible Man before he disappears.”
– LE DROIT

A POETIC QUEST FOR IDENTITY

Celebrated for its simplicity and tender humour, the strength of Desbiens’ poetry lies in its conciseness. L’Homme invisible / The Invisible Man, awarded the Prix de la Meilleure Production 2005 by Ottawa’s Cercle des critiques de la capitale, reconnects us with this major poetic talent. And we feel that TfT’s francophone audiences will relate to this character torn between two languages and two cultures.

We collaborate with Théâtre de la Vieille 17 on a regular basis and we are proud to include in this anniversary season work by a renowned Franco-Ontarian author.
