Benefit Performance

April 20, 2011

2011 Fundraiser for Théâtre français de Toronto was held on April 20 in the Rehearsal Hall of Canadian Stage’s Berkeley Street Theatre, TfT held a show and fundraiser for its 2010/11 season. The Minister of Community and Social Services and Minister Responsible for Francophone Affairs, Madeleine Meilleur, graced the evening with her presence. In total, 140 people were present to support TfT, a great success for this second edition!

The evening began with a cocktail reception provided by celebrated chef Jamie Kennedy who was on hand to serve the guests a series of appetizers, assorted cheeses, and gnocchi. The guests arrived around 6 pm and were able to begin bidding on numerous lots on offer. Air France provided a return trip for two to Paris valued at $3,900; Novotel, overnight stays in Montréal and Ottawa; Michel Tremblay donated watercolours; Philippe Béha, who illustrated TfT’s season brochure, gave pictures...

Next the guests were ushered to the theatre for a performance of L’École des femmes by Molière, directed by Diana Leblanc. After a speech by the Honourable Madeleine Meilleur, the party continued with a live auction enlivened by Guy Mignault, which was accompanied by champagne and delectable pastries created by Shirini Sara Pastry House.

The Théâtre français de Toronto wishes to thank all the guests for their precious support, as well as BMO Financial Group for its generosity and the evening’s sponsors: The Office of Francophone Affairs, Air France, Via Rail, Novotel and L'École des femmes (School for Wives) show sponsor TD Bank Financial Group who helped make this evening a great success!
